The United States was once the world’s leading producer of many critical minerals, but decades of excessive regulations and harmful foreign trade practices that went unaddressed weakened our capabilities and forced us to rely on production from adversarial nations. Under my leadership, we are finally reversing that dangerous trend and restoring America’s mineral resource independence.
In March, I signed an Executive Order directing immediate measures to increase domestic mineral production—prioritizing mining on federal lands, accelerating permitting, and cutting through the bureaucratic barriers that have crippled American mining. Just weeks later, I signed an additional order to unleash the production of America’s offshore critical mineral resources, opening vast areas along the Outer Continental Shelf for responsible development.
As President, I am driving investment, fueling prosperity, and building a future powered by American resources and workers.
